Working with clients, government authorities, EPC’s and funds, Shape has developed over 8MWp in commercial and residential solar and is current managing the development and delivery of 89MWp for 2012 – to April 2013 in the UK.

Current project sizes range from £3.8 million to £40 million which will typically be financed with equity from funding partners and project finance providers, reflecting the low revenue risk of solar operating plants with regulated revenues. Shape develops capital value by aggregating portfolio’s of development and operating assets and selling these to permanent investors such as Pension Funds, Infrastructure Funds, EIS Funds and energy companies who have a lower cost of capital and require a low risk portfolio with significant mass.

The company has a deep knowledge of the relevant solar energy markets and regulatory environments, and operate from Manchester, Birmingham and London. The team has developed a sector specific network of advisors, lending banks, permanent funders and key strategic partners. These relationships generate an international pipeline of investment. Having identified suitable solar projects, Shape manages the entire deal architectures; from the project development and investment process, partnering with EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and O&M (operating and maintenance) leaders from across Europe to final permanent funding. Shape structures and arranges the funding solution for each project, which follows the absolute rule “£1 today is worth £5 of promises tomorrow”; in a highly restricted and skittish investment environment and with many sometimes not good industry players, we feel that getting the deal done and all parties rewarded is our first priority.

Shape is now developing expertise and funds in Renewable Heat Incentive driven assets. We are developing projects in BioMass and waste to energy. We are keen to talk with specialists in this area.
